Keep reading for an explanation of those Kia dash lights.

What Do Those Kia Dashboard Lights Mean?

Most Kia warning lights symbols are designed to be quickly recognizable and understood. That doesn’t mean that you would be the first person to find one or two of the Kia dashboard lights hard to decipher. Here are what several of the most important Kia dash lights mean:

Kia Warning Lights Symbols and Their Meanings

  • Kia Malfunction Indicator Light: Commonly known as a Kia check engine light, Kia Malfunction Indicator Light means an emission issue or some other engine problem has been detected.
  • Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light: Your engine is low on oil when this light flashes. Pull over as soon as it is safe and fill the oil. Running an engine on low oil can cause catastrophic damage.
  • Electric Power Steering (EPS) Warning Light: This light means that your power steering system has malfunctioned.
  • ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) Warning Light: Your anti-lock brake system is malfunctioning and needs to be serviced right away.
  • Kia TPMS Light (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) Malfunction Indicator: When the Kia TPMS Light turns on, your tire pressure is getting low.
  • Airbag Warning Light: This is one of the most important of the Kia dashboard lights. Have your vehicle looked at as soon as you can to maintain optimal safety.
  • Engine Coolant Temperature Warning Light: This also ranks pretty highly in importance among the Kia warning lights symbols. It means your car is overheating and you should pull over as soon as it is safe.
  • Kia Warning Lights Exclamation Point in a Triangle: If you see among your Kia warning lights an exclamation point in a triangle, that is the Master Warning Light, and it indicates that more than one of the following issues have occurred: low washer fluid, TPMS, Blind Spot Detection (BSD), the fuel cap open, and/or service is required.
