What is Brake Fluid?

Brake fluid is made from glycol-ether, silicone, or mineral oils and it flows throughout the entire braking system. This process lubricates the moving parts, prevents corrosion, and even helps with the movement of the pedal. What Color is Brake Fluid?

How Do I Check My Brake Fluid?

• Grab your owner’s manual and pop the hood of your car.
• Look for the brake fluid reservoir on the driver’s side of the engine. Check your owner’s manual if you need help.
• Find the “minimum” and “maximum” lines on the outside of the reservoir.
• If your brake fluid levels are in between the two lines, you are good to go.
• If your brake fluid levels are below the “minimum” line, refill your reservoir to the “maximum” level. Be sure not to overfill!
