How to Activate Cruise Control
If you’ve recently purchased a new Kia or a pre-owned Kia from a recent model year, you have access to a popular comfort feature: Kia Smart Cruise Control. When you’re traveling on Federal Way roads, cruise control manages your vehicle’s speed and allows you to focus on the road without having to constantly glance at your speedometer. This technology also allows you to maintain a specific distance between your car and the car in front of you. If you’re wondering how to use cruise control, you’re in the right place! Read this guide by the service experts at Sunset Kia of Auburn to learn how to activate cruise control, as well as how to turn off cruise control.
How to Set Cruise Control: A Step-by-Step Guide
Want to take advantage of cruise control on Sumner streets? It’s actually quite easy! Follow these steps to activate your cruise control feature:
- Press the ‘Cruise’ button on the steering wheel.
- Accelerate to your desired speed.
- Press the ‘Set’ button on the steering wheel to confirm the vehicle’s cruising speed.
- Hit the ‘Distance’ button, which is also located on the steering wheel, to establish the distance you’d like between your Kia and the vehicle in front of you. You can rotate between four different distances: 172 feet, 131 feet, 107 feet, and 87 feet.
If traffic slows to a complete stop for more than three seconds, press the ‘Resume’ button on the steering wheel, or tap the accelerator. This will reengage cruise control, and your Kia will continue driving for you.
How to Turn Off Cruise Control
Now that you know how to activate cruise control, let’s go over how to deactivate cruise control. To turn off this system, you can either press the ‘Cruise’ button on the steering wheel or press the brake pedal.
