Keep reading to learn more about what exactly this Kia warranty covers, how long it lasts, and if it’s transferable. Remember, when you shop with Sunset Kia of Auburn for a new Kia like the K5, you’ll have access to our dealership-exclusive Warranty Protection for Life.

Kia Basic Warranty

The Basic Kia Warranty–which includes the Kia bumper-to-bumper warranty–covers your K5 for 5 years or 60,000 miles after your vehicle’s first service date, whichever comes first. This warranty covers everything except wear and tear damage and maintenance. Be sure to consult your owner’s manual for specific details on what the warranty includes and excludes for your specific model.

Kia Limited Powertrain Warranty

The Kia 10-year/100,000-mile warranty program of powertrain coverage will kick in after your K5’s first service appointment. Similar to the basic warranty, it doesn’t cover wear and maintenance. Here’s a breakdown of everything that this warranty does cover:

  • Engine: Cylinder block, cylinder head and all internal parts, timing gear, seals and gaskets, valve cover, oil pump, water pump, flywheel, and turbocharger
  • Transaxle: Drive shafts, bearings, seals and gaskets, front hubs, and universal joints
  • Axle: Axle shafts and C-V joints, hub and wheel bearings, and seals
  • Transmission: Transmission case, seals, gaskets, torque converter and all internal parts, and transfer case
  • Differential: Front and rear differential assemblies, cases, all internal parts, and seals and gaskets
  • Propeller Shaft: Universal joints and drive shafts

Is Kia Warranty Transferable?

The Kia 10 year/100,000-mile warranty program is available on most pre-owned Kia models, but the Powertrain Limited Warranty isn’t transferrable. In turn, if you’re interested in selling your current vehicle to another Federal Way driver or buying a pre-owned Kia K5, it’s important to remember that not all of the warranties will carry over to the used model.
