Service Writer Job Responsibilities:

Initiates automotive services and repairs by ascertaining performance problems and services requested. This may include:

  • Verifying Warranty Protection for Life
  • Verifying Oil Changes for Life
  • Verifying service contract coverage
  • Developing estimates
  • Writing repair orders
  • Maintaining customer rapport and records

Service Writer Job Duties:

  • Ascertains automotive problems and services by listening to customer's description of symptoms; clarifying description of problems; conducting inspections; taking test drives; checking vehicle maintenance records; examining service schedules.
  • Verifies warranty, oil changes and service contract coverage by examining records and papers; explaining provisions and exclusions.
  • Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor; calculating customer's payment, including deductibles.
  • Prepares repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required; obtaining approval signatures; entering RO into service database system.
  • Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle; obtaining customer's approval of estimates; obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers; answering questions and concerns; arranging towing and temporary transportation.
  • Maintains automotive records by recording problems and corrective actions planned.
  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

As an Automotive Sales Representative, you must embody Sunset Auto Family’s reputation of honesty, integrity and superior customer service. We are looking for outgoing, enthusiastic, approachable individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where every day brings new challenges. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience selling new cars is preferred and willing to do things the Sunset way. Being Bilingual is a plus.

Your specific duties will include:

  • Consulting with customers to figure out their wants and needs in a new or used vehicle
  • Conducting walk-arounds with customers and demonstrating automobile features
  • Ensuring that the customer understands the vehicle's operating features, warranty, and paperwork
  • Conducting price negotiations on vehicles
  • Demonstrating an understanding that business is built on excellent customer satisfaction and being committed to providing first-rate customer service
  • Developing and maintaining strong customer relationships to promote repeat business
  • Learning new products, features and accessories available, and explaining their benefits to customers
  • Following all company policies, procedures and safety standards

The ideal Automotive Sales Representative will also have:

  • Self-motivation and a strong desire to succeed and increase earnings
  • Proven experience in sales; automotive sales experience is preferred, but not required
  • Willingness to work on commission
  • Ability to establish rapport and build relationships to ensure repeat customers
  • Excellent presentation and negotiation skills
  • Strong follow-through skills
  • Ability to read and process paperwork
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
