The Kia Sportage in 2018 stays pretty similar to the 2017 Sportage, but still sports an award-winning pedigree by offering three trim levels and advanced technology. A new addition with 2018, however, is a technology package that is now not just available with the EX trim, but with the LX model. This package includes Rear Cross Traffic alert1, Lane Departure Warning System, Blind Spot Detection, braking and outside-mirror turn signals, and autonomous emergency braking. The previously mentioned EX trim receives optional heated rear seats and a new Sport Appearance package, and the SX trim receives an electronic parking brake. Which engines are available in the 2018 Sportage?

The standard engine for the Kia Sportage is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder, which produces 181 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. This engine gives you the fuel efficiency of 23 mpg city and 30 mpg highway. The second engine option is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which produces 240 hp and 160 lb-ft of torque. The fuel efficiency is 21 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. Each engine has the option to choose FWD or 4WD and is matched with a six-speed automatic transmission. The 2018 Sportage has the towing capacity of up to 2,000 pounds.

Standard safety features for the 2018 Sportage include a rearview camera and automatic headlights. The Popular package is available with the LX, and adds Kia’s eServices remote and emergency services, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 7-inch Uvo touchscreen, heated front seats, an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, a windshield wiper de-icer, UV-reducing glass for the front windows and windshield, and roof rails. The next trim option is the EX, which while including all of the features above, also has a rear USB charging port, leather upholstery, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, keyless ignition and entry, upgraded exterior and interior trim, heated mirrors, fog lights, and 18-inch wheels. The EX has a Premium package which adds an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a heated steering wheel, and a panoramic sunroof. Another package option with the EX is the Sport Appearance package, which adds a flat-bottom steering wheel, special exterior trim, and LED fog lights. There are two different technology packages, the LX Technology packages have power-folding mirrors, automatic high-beam control, lane departure warning, blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning systems, and forward collision warning and automatic braking. The Technology package for the EX has all of those previously mentioned technology package items, along with an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a navigation system, an 8-inch touchscreen, an eight-way power-adjustable passenger seat, a spare tire, front and rear parking sensors, and a hands-free liftgate. AWD Sportages also include heated rear seats. The final trim option is the SX and features the contents of the EX technology and Premium packages, a larger gauge display, the flat-bottom steering wheel, special exterior trim, an electronic parking brake, LED fog lights, xenon headlights, 19-inch wheels, and a sport-tuned suspension.
